HIGHER STUDIES IN ENGINEERING

GATE-(graduate aptitude test in engineering)

 

 The gate score is used for admissions to various post-graduate education  programs (e.g. Master of Engineering, Master of Technology, Doctor of Philosophy) in Indian higher education institutes, and other government agencies. Recently, GATE scores are also being used by several Indian public sector undertakings (i.e., government-owned companies) for recruiting graduate engineers in entry-level positions.

 

TANCET – (tamil nadu common entrance test)

It  is an eligibility examination for studying post graduate courses like M.E., M.Tech., M.Arch., M.Plan., M.B.A. and M.C.A. in colleges of tamil nadu . This examination is conducted by Anna University, Chennai.

CAT – COMMON ADMISSION TEST

 The Common Admission Test (CAT) is a computer based test held in India. This test scores a person on the bases of quantitative ability, data interpretation, verbal ability and logical reasoning. The IIMs started this exam and use the test for selecting students for their business administration programs

 

MAT – Management Aptitude Test

 The Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is and entrance test for admissions into MBA programs in various top B – schools and other institutes across the India. It conducted by AIMA (All India Management Association) New Delhi, 4 times (every trimester) in a year.

 

ETS (Educational Testing Service) conducts GRE, TOEFL examinations.

Students can register online. Exams would be conducted throughout the year.

 

GRE (Graduate Record Examination) –

It is a standardized test that is an admissions requirement for most graduate schools in the United States.

 

TOEFL (Test of English as Foreign Language)

it is a standardized test of English language proficiency for non-native English language speakers wishing to enroll in U.S. universities. The test is accepted by many English-speaking academic and professional institutions.

 

IELTS (International Language Testing System) –

Academic and General Training, Exams would be conducted throughout the year

It is an international standardized test of English language proficiency for non-native English language speakers.  There are two versions:

The Academic Version is intended for those who want to enroll in universities and other institutions of higher education and for professionals such as medical doctors and nurses who want to study or practice in an English-speaking country.

The General Training Version is intended for those planning to undertake non-academic training or to gain work experience, or for immigration purposes. IELTS is accepted by most Australian, British, Canadian, Irish, new Zealand academic institutions, over 3,000 academic institutions in the US, and various professional organizations across the world. It is also a requirement for immigration to Australia and New Zealand. In Canada, IELTS are accepted by the immigration authority

 

GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) -

Is a standardized test conducted by  the Graduate Management Admission Council of the US.

 The GMAT exam is administered in standardized test centers in 112 countries around the world.  More than 5,900 programs offered by more than 2,100 universities and institutions use the GMAT exam as part of the selection criteria for their programs. Business schools use the test as a criterion for admission into a wide range of graduate management programs, including MBA, Master of Accountancy and Master of Finance programs.
